A cooling tower is a heat dissipation mechanism in an air conditioning system, which aims to dissipate the heat of hot water or other hot fluids circulating in the system into the atmosphere, thereby reducing the water temperature.
Cooling tower packing is the core component of a cooling tower. Packing increases heat dissipation, prolongs the residence time of cooling water, and increases the heat exchange area in the cooling tower, playing a significant role in the cooling effect of circulating water. Studies have shown that the heat dissipation capacity of water spray fillers can reach over 70% of that of conventional cooling towers, so the selection of fillers is crucial. There are multiple factors that affect the selection of fillers, including the form of the cooling tower, thermal characteristics, cooling tasks, circulating cooling water quality, ventilation conditions, thermal resistance characteristics of fillers, support methods of fillers, and cost of fillers.
Ⅰ. The main function of cooling tower packing is
1.Increasing heat dissipation:
The packing provides a huge surface area, allowing the circulating water to fully contact the air as it flows through the packing layer. This large-area contact increases the evaporation of water molecules into the air, effectively improving heat dissipation efficiency.
2.Extending the residence time of cooling water:
By setting multiple layers of packing, the residence time of cooling water in the tower can be extended, ensuring sufficient time for sufficient heat exchange.
3.Increasing heat transfer area and heat transfer:
The structural design of the packing aims to maximize the contact area between water and air, which directly increases the surface area for heat transfer and improves heat transfer efficiency.
4.Uniform water distribution:
Ensure that the water flow entering the cooling tower is evenly distributed throughout the entire packing layer, avoiding efficiency degradation caused by local overheating or uneven water flow.
5.Low ventilation resistance: High quality packing design can also maintain low ventilation resistance, allowing air to pass smoothly through the packing layer and enhancing heat exchange efficiency.
Ⅱ. The replacement and installation of cooling tower packing requires the cleaning of the tower after removing the waste cooling tower, and the scientific laying of new packing in sequence. The replacement construction of new and old fillers generally follows the following steps:
1. Before construction, protect other equipment on site and perform necessary isolation and tagging. Lay construction material cloth on the waterproof layer of the floor.
2. Dismantle the old filling material. Turn off the motor power, remove the reinforcement of the cooling tower packing area, and then remove the old packing and clean up the garbage inside the tower.
3. Fill with new filler. Glue the cooling tower packing and ensure that there is enough space for the packing to be placed during the curing time of the adhesive. Ensure that the contact points of the packing are on the same horizontal plane during bonding, and ensure that the contact points of the packing are evenly and tightly stressed during the crimping process.
4. Cleaning inside the tower. Clean up the dust and garbage inside the cooling tower, stack the packing materials in order inside the cooling tower, strictly prohibit trampling and squeezing, ensure that each stack and layer of packing blocks are neat, ensure that the packing materials are tight and seamless with corners and column edges, and the spacing between difficult areas should not exceed 2mm. Restore the reinforcement of the cooling tower packing area.
5. The assembly blocks should be assembled in the up and down direction, and the top surfaces of each layer should be laid flat. The interlayer should be cleaned and debris should be removed.
6. When installation, maintenance and other work need to be carried out on the filling material, it must be operated on a flat plate, and stepping on the filling material is strictly prohibited.
7. During the entire construction process, welding operations above the filling material are strictly prohibited, and fire prevention measures should be taken if necessary.
8. After all the procedures such as replacement and tower maintenance are completed, the construction tools and auxiliary installation facilities are brought out, and the project is successfully completed.
Ⅲ. Cooling tower cleaning
1. Disassemble and clean the packing of the cooling tower. When disassembling, cleaning, and restoring the packing module, pay attention to the order of the stack. If necessary, adjust the position and order of the stack during restoration installation;
2. Clean the cooling water dispenser and chassis;
3. Clean the cooling tower and its Y-shaped water filter;
4. Use a long haired hard brush and high-pressure water gun to wash and rinse the disassembled cooling tower packing piece by piece, visually inspect whether the scale adhered to the packing surface wall has fallen off, and preferably restore the color of the cooling tower packing surface wall;
5. Check the integrity of the packing, sort out damaged packing, and if necessary, recommend replacing severely damaged packing to ensure the operational efficiency of the cooling tower;
6. Reinstall the packing material and suggest assigning a stacking number to the packing material in advance for easy playback after cleaning. However, it is recommended to periodically swap the stacking of each piece of packing material to synchronize its aging rate;
7. Chassis pollution, in order to avoid wasting water resources, it is necessary to eliminate simultaneous cleaning and pollution discharge.
