The square counterflow cooling tower achieves heat exchange through the reverse flow of water and air. Its workflow is as follows: Hot water is evenly sprayed onto the packing layer via the top water distribution system, forming a downward-flowing water film. Air enters through the bottom inlet and is driven upward through the packing by fans in a counterflow direction. When the two phases fully contact on the packing surface, partial water evaporates and absorbs heat (evaporative cooling), lowering the temperature of the remaining water. Simultaneously, the air absorbs heat and moisture, becoming humid hot gas that is discharged from the top.
